People with “dirty necks”?

Okay, have you ever seen someone who is overweight with a ring of “dirt” around their necks? Well, I’m one of them and am very self-conscience about it. I’ve been overweight all my life but my mom thought the “dirt” was because I didn’t take showers every single day. Middle school came and I did take showers every single day but I always had a dirty neck. I went to the doctor and she said it was because my body produced less insulin than others and I was overweight. It should have gone away if I lost the weight. well, I did lose some weight and my grandma told me that it was lessening and I was really glad. Then, I got to high school and gained A LOT of weight due to stress. It’s now darker and nasty. I have to hise it with my hair and can never wear a pony tail in public because I get embarrassed. So my question is will it ever go away if I lose the weight? How can I lose weight and set realistic goals? Sorry it was so long.

The dark patch is called Acanthosis Nigricans. It’s a common thing with people who are overweight. It is usually a sign that your body is making extra insulin that it cannot use. So the insulin builds up, and as a result, you may get a dark area of skin. It’s also called insulin resistance. This should be an eye-opener for you. You’re a step away from developing type 2 diabetes. I suggest going to an ENDOCRINOLOGIST. Regular doctors don’t do anything, to be quite frank. Anyways, I know it can be embarrassing. A few of my family members have it. Nothing can really make it go away unless you exercise. DON’T USE BLEACH. So many people have done that before. Anyways, make sure you have a good diet, get 45 minutes of VIGOROUS exercise at least five times a weak, and lose some weight. As a result, your insulin level will be lowered thus getting rid of Acanthosis Nigricans.
