Working on a college scholarship “Personal Goals…”?
I’m working on a college scholarship paper and they want to know some of my personal goals. I’ve written about how I have set goals for myself to succeed in school but now I’m trying to think of my other personal goals. Honestly, one of my biggest goals besides doing well in school is to some day get married. Is this not appropriate to put in to a college scholarship paper, or what are some other examples I could include? I just need to get some ideas started, obviously I have personal goals but I’m drawing a blank and I’m not sure what is and what is not acceptable. Thank you!
If part of your vision of marriage involves raising children who will love learning as much as you do, maybe you could make it work as more than a passing mention. But generally, scholarship committees are looking for goals that you can make happen with enough effort or of the highly aspirational but beneficial to all humanity variety – and marriage, to a certain extent, is out of your control. You want to present yourself as someone who’s capable of growing into a independent, accomplished adult, whether you end up having a partner or not.
